I think that you were able to capture the purpose of the commercial. I also believe that the central message of the commercial was for parents to teach their children that whats more beautiful is one's inner beauty not their physical appearance. Like you, when I was watching this commercial, my reaction to it was, "those girls are going to do those things to themselves... thats horrible." The way that beauty is projected in the media will definitely effect "future children", as you said. And if we do nothing to change this, then our future will be bleak. But to see a change, we ourselves have to change first.
Yeah this is true Aowei i felt the same way you did when i first saw the video. I literally was scared about what my parents might take it as but the community has to know about this what the beauty industry is doing to the young women of today is just horrifying.
At the beginning of the video I was also confused about what it meant, but when I watched it a second time I finally understood the 'deeper' meaning. I share the same point of view about the video as you do. Hopefully parents will inform their kids about the 'aesthetic' images posted in the media.
